The Mormons have what they call Temple Garments.
Which they receive upon being married in the Temple.
Not unlike SMM's kerchief that couples receive during
his "blessing".

And like the kerchief it is a symbol of the purity and
sanctity of holy matrimony.

So the question remains, which came first the
chicken or the egg. Did the Temple Garments
come first, and did SMM read (hear) about it,
or perhaps the Holy Ghost conferred with SMM
the same ritualistic purity as was given to the
Mormons by way of revelation.

Walk in faith..

Mind you they are both ritualistic symbols, and
as a symbol is conditional of the commitment
to what it stands for, and what it means to each
person individually.
